2020 Annual Members Meeting

On Thursday May 14th, 2020, Cooperative Energy Futures held our first ever online Annual Members Meeting. Recordings of our keynote speaker, Organizational Reports, and other Annual Members Meeting content can be found below.

Keynote Speaker Winona LaDuke

Winona LaDuke is a rural development economist and author working on issues of Indigenous Economics , Food and Energy Policy.  She lives and works on the White Earth reservation in northern Minnesota, and is the Executive Director of  Honor the Earth (HtE). She works nationally and internationally on the issues of climate change, renewable energy, and environmental justice alongside Indigenous communities. In her own community, she is the founder of the White Earth Land Recovery Project, one of the largest reservation-based non-profit organizations in the country.   Globally and nationally, Winona is known as a leader in the issues of cultural-based sustainable development strategies, renewable energy, and sustainable food systems. She is one of the leaders in the work of protecting Indigenous plants and heritage foods from patenting and genetic engineering. She has authored six books including; Recovering the Sacred, All our Relations, Last Standing Woman, and The Winona LaDuke Chronicles.

Welcome and Introductions

The Annual Members Meeting kicked off with a welcome to the members and some polls to identify who is participating.

Board Election Process

At the Annual Members Meeting, CEF members voted to elect 5 Board members (3 returning and 2 new) to five open seats. You can learn more about the five new Board members below

Please Review the Candidate Statements and Intro Videos

The members also voted to allow Board candidates to run for a third consecutive term in the future (up to six years of Board service if they are re-elected by the members every 2 years). No candidate has yet used this option.
