We’re excited that you want to join a Cooperative Energy Futures Community Solar Garden! Subscribing to a solar garden is an easy multi-step process. Don’t worry, you are not committed until you sign the Subscription Agreement, which we will first customize based on your energy use and your needs. This gives you time to understand the project fully and answer any questions you have. To get started, identify the project you want to join, or sign-up on our waiting list.
Before you pick a garden (eligible areas listed below), we recommend that you check our CEF’s Community Solar FAQ or check out our overview documents about Our Approach to Community Solar and an Overview of Subscription Terms.
Use this button if you are not sure which garden you are eligible for and interested in, or if there are no open gardens for which you are eligible. We will let you know if you are eligible for one of our current community solar gardens or put you on our waiting list and help you take the first steps with us so you’ll be ready when a garden comes on line. We are rolling out more community solar gardens throughout 2021 and 2022.
Open Gardens (sign up for these projects below if you are eligible):
Eden Prairie CSG (in Development): is accepting pre-registration for subscriptions for residents of Eden Prairie who are of limited means or from marginalized communities.
Clara City CSG (in Development): is accepting pre-registration for subscriptions for residents of western MN (Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Renville, and Yellow Medicine counties)
Mankato CSG (in Development): is accepting pre-registration for subscriptions for residents of Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, Le Sueur, Nicollet, Waseca and Watonwan counties.
Lake Elmo CSG (in Development): is accepting pre-registration for subscriptions for residents of Ramsey and Washington county with a specific focus on Saint Paul and Lake Elmo.
Faribault CSG (Operating): is open for subscriptions for residents of Rice, Dakota, Goodhue, and Scott counties.
Waseca CSG (Operating): is open for subscriptions for residents in the Mankato area and Waseca and Rice counties
Start a New Project:
CEF is working on over a dozen project sites across Minnesota. Are you interested in helping us launch cooperative community solar in your community? Here’s how you can help:
Join/Form a Team: We have community teams currently planning different solar garden projects with us, and we’re happy to help more communities launch projects. Please contact Subscription Outreach Manager Alan Henderson at alan@cooperativeenergyfutures.com, (612) 568-2334 x104 to see if there is already an active team in your community or to help start your own!
Recommend a Host Site: If you know a potential location interested in serving as a host site of a community solar array, you can send a recommendation to Solar Site Assessor Bruce Konewko at bruce@cooperativeenergyfutures.com, (612) 568-2334 x 102. Please include your name, contact information, the specific address (street, city, state, zip) of the site you are recommending, and a sentence or two about your connection to the site and its owner.
